Wedding Theme: Picnic Weddings

Who doesn't love a picnic? Sunny days, delicious crusty breads, lazing on the grass it's the perfect way to spend an afternoon. There is a trend towards more intimate, less formal weddings that is making picnic weddings increasingly popular.

As we have styled a few of these in our time we thought we would provide some tips on how to embrace this trend for either the main event or your pre dinner drinks!

1. Count each picnic blanket as it's own dining table. Calculate the number of guests that will be able to sit comfortably on the picnic blanket and provide a picnic basket with enough food for that number of people. Then do the maths and make sure there will be enough for everyone!

2. Decide when you will have your Picnic. Picnic receptions like the one we styled at Emily and Max's gorgeous Sunshine Coast wedding are such a fun idea but if you love this idea and don't want to commit to a full picnic reception than your canapés and pre dinner drinks are the perfect time to incorporate this into your event. This gives you the opportunity to incorporate a mix of seating, your younger guests will probably be thrilled about lounging on blankets sipping champagne but including some sofa settings or cafe table sets may cater more for family members. At this recent Polo event we used a combination of low tables with rugs and comfy cushions to create a relaxed table setting.

3. Cushions, cushions and more cushions! Including an eclectic mix of colourful cushions will look super cute and provide a lovely comfy experience for your guests.

4. Consider your colour scheme and what style of picnic blanket and how this will fit into the overall theme of your wedding. To capture a bohemian vibe at a recent corporate event we used layered Persian rugs with moroccan pouffes.

5. Have fun! You can really play around with  styling your picnic baskets and food! We love baguettes with brie, charcuterie pickles and cheese with cute hand made chutneys and of course pie! This gorgeous image is from a recent French themed photo shoot by the lovely Leela from Your Gourmet.

Wedding Trends 2016 | Perfectly Imperfect Wedding Cakes and Details

We are seeing so many gorgeous organically styled and imperfect cakes and details showing up on our feed that we though we would put together a collection of our favourite images from this emerging trend. We are loving the delicate details, single buds on cakes, and the intricate attention to detail that is displayed by these cake artists. With unstructured organic and abundant florals these wedding details will add a touch of whimsy to your special day and incorporate a feeling of fun and informality.
