From our very first venue meeting we knew this wedding was going to be a special one! Megan had a great vision in mind and we were on the same page straight away. Most of our couples have one or two absolute definite elements that they want included in their wedding design – for Megan + Matthew this included a hanging foliage installation, festoon lighting, and games for their guests to enjoy during their pre-dinner drinks. We then had the creative freedom to design their entire wedding based on these ideas and Megan’s vision of an organic and relaxed ambience for the day.
We really wanted to create something that was a fresh and modern approach to ‘rustic’ – to keep within the brief of an organic wedding but also adding some more contemporary details. We worked with a colour palette of charcoal, white, greenery and pastels and introduced elements of copper throughout the design.
It was important to Megan + Matthew that their canapé hour was a fun space for their guests, so we put lots of love into this area with custom made signage for each game, comfy rugs and cushions, white cane furniture and an incredible bar dressed with baskets of wild foliage. It’s the little details that are so effective, like our personalized ‘M&M’ decal for the corn-hole board, and the handwritten calligraphy and floral garlands on the game signage. It was a happy moment for us as we watched the guests having a ball with the games and making the most of the space.
We had the perfect blank canvas for the sit down reception at Mt Pleasant Hall with timber flooring, rafters, and plenty of natural light. Dez from Twig & Grace created the most incredible hanging foliage installations – vibrant greenery draped over white timber planks that were suspended from the rafters. Hanging installations like this are so effective as they bring the ceiling height down and create a sense of intimacy in the space. We really wanted to use charcoal grey linen cloths for the tables but didn’t want this to make the tablescape too dark – to counteract this we used a natural oatmeal coloured table runner on top of the charcoal cloth which kept things nice and light. At each place setting we had beautiful crystal glassware, rose gold cutlery, and white linen napkins tied with copper cord and handwritten calligraphy place cards. To complete the space we had festoon lighting strung amongst the foliage - the best moment of the day for us was when we turned the festoons on and saw the hall light up. It really was magical!
We had so much fun working on this wedding with a fabulous and hardworking team of suppliers, and the proof is in these incredible photos. If you want the LGS team to help create your dream wedding you can view more details on our styling packages here.
